Overview

This accelerated instructor-led course provides students with the knowledge and skills to create fully functional Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) and Silverlight applications by using .NET 3.5. This course is intended for application developers who know how to create applications in Visual Studio 2005 or 2008.

  • Design and develop WPF and Silverlight applications by using Microsoft Expression Blend 2.5 and Microsoft Visual Studio 2008
  • Build cross-platform, cross-browser HD media and rich interactive applications (RIAs) for the Web by using Silverlight 2.0 and 3.0
  • Build rich and powerful applications for Windows by using WPF
  • Use WPF and Silverlight controls, styles and data binding
  • Program the Silverlight DOM by using JavaScript
  • Improve performance by downloading Silverlight assets just-in-time
  • Layout a WPF and Silverlight user interface by using XAML

Prerequisites

Prerequisites:

Candidates for the WPF exam use Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 in a team-based, medium to large development environment. Candidates should have a minimum of two to three years of experience developing Windows or Web-based applications by using Microsoft .NET.

Candidates should also have a minimum of one year of experience with the following:

  • Creating Windows applications with Windows Forms or WPF.
  • Creating Web applications with ASP.NET and JavaScript.
  • Database access by using ADO.NET.
  • Web services.
  • .NET configuration and Debugging.
  • Security aspects such as authentication, authorization and membership systems.

Candidates should be very familiar with Visual Studio 2005 or later and the .NET Framework classes that are related to Windows Forms, WPF, and ASP.NET. In addition, candidates should have a good grasp of JavaScript.
