The Cisco certifications explained

CCENT

The Cisco CCENT certification is for entry network technicians. It proves your ability to install, operate, and troubleshoot a small enterprise branch network and perform basic network security tasks. This is ideal if you're a Help Desk Technician or Network Support Technician.

CCNA

The Cisco CCNA certification is aimed at network associates. It shows your ability to install, configure, operate, and troubleshoot medium-sized routed and switched networks. You'll also learn how to implement and verify connections to remote sites in a Wide Area Network (WAN). This is for Network Administrators, Network Installers and Network Engineers.

CCNA Security

The Cisco CCNA Security certification is - unsurprisingly - for network security professionals. You'll learn how to install, troubleshoot, and monitor Cisco network security devices. You'll also be able to develop a security infrastructure, recognize network vulnerabilities and reduce security threats. This is for Network Security Specialists.

CCNP

The Cisco CCNP certification is for network professionals. It proves your knowledge of installing, configuring, and troubleshooting converged local and WANs. You'll also be able to manage routers, switches and edge applications that integrate voice, wireless, and security into the network. This is for Level II Network Engineers and Network Technicians.
